The Mongols were pastoral people who swept out of Gobi. Their empire was located near three dynasties in China, and was a really big territory, seizing control over many land made them come under one single ruler. Soon they conquered China which made their land expand a lot, this was because the Mongols had a very successful army when they were conquering Chinese territories.
The Mongols in China
- Kublai Khan finished the conquest of the Song Dynasty, and set up a new Chinese dynasty called Yuan.
- Chinese people started to follow the Mongols because they brought them peace, respect, stability, and prosperity.
- Chinese territories made the Mongol territory expand
- Now Mongolian people live in China, the Mongols population in China is twice as large than in their home country. 6 million Mongols are in China, while in Mongolia there is only 3 million.

- Temüjin : founder of the Great Khan in the Mongol Empire, his full known name is Ghengis Khan
- Ögedei : third son of Ghengis Khan and second Great Khan
- Güyük : grandson of Ghengis Khan, eldest son of Ögedei, and third Great Khan
- Kublai : fifth Khagan and established the Yuan Dynasty

- Children needed to know how to hunt so when they get older followed their parent's same steps.
- Horses were really important to the Mongols because first they were a way of transportation and already got domesticated by them so it was easier. Second they gained advantage in fights with men.
- Mongols created a capital called Karakorum in the thirteenth century, this made them more organized.
- They ruled over many land, which made them a big empire.
- When the Mongols captured their subjects, they punished them if they didn't obey their orders.
- The Mongols separated themselves from others with their military tactics, which were devastating for some, and at the same time effective for others.
- They spent too much time on foreign conquests, corruption, and growing internal stability, this led them decline.
- Ghengis Khan, Kublai Khan, and the Mongols in general left a huge legacy like a huge empire, religion, unification and peace, an army with lots of power, and important written things that will help te next rulers of this empire.
- The Mongols are not considered barbarians because even though they were rude with other people so they could succeed, they were innovative and intelligent because all of the achievements they did while their empire was still alive.
